What is an aquarium - Series 3

Nurture Fodder animal

In this article, what is an aquarium? How to easily pay attention to the composition of water? Let's answer the questions.
The first 2 articles are theoretical. A little video. Hope you like it,😜.
Nephew, what to write in this article is ... let's think a little ...

What is an aquarium?

In theory, it is a tank made of river water with a transparent viewing window on one side, intended for breeding fish and aquatic animals.

Then, of course, the question arises that how to keep the water in this water in accordance with the animals in it, with good quality and clean water at all times. Let me briefly mention the method I use in my small Nano Aquarium. I won't waste time myself, 😁😅.

1.1 What should the filter look like?

As shown in the picture, it means that it happens almost the same in nature, in other words, this is how the gray water we use (of course on a larger scale) is purified. But does human-polluted water actually get purified? Especially the waste water used in production...
Well, let's stop at the Aquarium this time. At least water purity will be stable in 3 types of steps in the picture. Most good Aquarium Filters will have a similar design, if only a little comparison.

What are the 3 types of filters:

  • Mechanics
  • Chemistry
  • If there are 3 types of biology, this cleaning process will go well.

The main function of this filter is to keep the composition of the water stable. With the help of a motor, the aquarium water is filtered through these and comes out the other side. It must be understood as the most stable system. An in-depth explanation would also be a lot of theory and would exceed the 30 minutes I can give you.

Water passing through the motor moves the surface of the water and improves the enrichment of oxygen in the water. It also prevents fish from forming a film on the surface and dying.

1.2 How to affect the composition of water?

The fish breathes through its gills, which is the most serious problem when it quickly becomes damaged due to inappropriate water hardness. Therefore, before buying fish, you should also find out what the hardness of the water is where you live.

In Europe, every city should have accurate information on water quality and metrics on its website. You're paying for it, and it's vital information directly related to your health.

Information like this is free and should be updated regularly!

In my Aquarium for example, the most important parameter is the PH-Value. Mi Galt red tetras should be below 7.6 PH, so I use natural methods to lower this value.
The method I use to reduce water hardness is:

  • Sea almond leaves (German = Seemandelbaumblatt, English = Catappa Leaves). The main effect of this leaf is to acidify and disinfect the water, and it has a very positive effect on the fish's gills or respiratory system.
  • Do you like the cone of the glory tree🤣 (German = Erlenzapfen, English = Ainus glutinosa). This cone has the same effect as above.

As you can see from above, these two trees grow near water in nature, and the fallen leaves and cones sterilize the water. In my 22 liter aquarium, I soften or purify the water once a month by adding leaves and cones twice a month.

In a well-established aquarium, there will be less work to do now:

  • Equalize the water level once a week (add new ones and do it).
  • Cut fast-growing plants once a week or once a month. Pick up fallen and cut plants immediately or before they rot.
  • The gravel should be vacuumed once every six months or once a year
  • Pay attention to good nutrition and mineral supplementation while at home. Mussels and shrimps, in particular, require a lot of nutrients in their scales and housings, so they can't help but add to this clean microenvironment.

Well, it's like this, 😎🤗. The translation of the name of the plant or animal is fictitious or it is translated as "googly". Therefore, I always include the foreign names, thinking that they are easier to find. If you forget, you can write a DM on Twitter.
